Simon Aeppli was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1972 and is now based in London. He studied film at Gwent College of Higher Education in Wales from 1991-93 and then BA (Hons) Fine Art at the University of Wales Institute in Cardiff from 1995-97. Since graduating, he has worked predominately with digital video, creating work that has been screened at festivals and artist events in Britain and abroad. Recently, his work has shifted towards documentary and has been commissioned by UK broadcasters on ITV, FIVE and Current TV. He also works as a part-time lecturer in BA Fine Art at the University of Wales Institute and teaches documentary production for the Documentary.

Wilfried Agricola de Cologne is a multidisciplinary media artist, director of short films, New Media curator and director and founder of [NewMediaArtProjectNetwork]:||cologne. Since 2000 his is presenting his films and media art projects on more than 250 festivals and exhibitions and received numerous prizes and awards.

JiHyun Ahn was born in Seoul in 1980, Korea and spent her childhood in Japan, where she was exposed to many unique animation films. She studied architecture and interior design at Yonsei University in Korea. During her school, spending more time on manipulating 2D and 3D graphic programs, she moved her interest forward to computer graphics and studied flash and video animation in School of Visual Arts in New York. Recently, she graduated her master’s program and has endeavored to create animation projects, which were reflective of her quirky imagination and sensibilities.

Alan Amin, kurdish, he has film making Certificate from London Film Academy, London 2005; City and Guilds National diploma in Media, video and television Technique Level 4 WFA Manchester 2004/2005; degree in Theatre Directing - Arts of School/Drama / Sulamania / Iraq 1989-1994. In 2006 he founded Kurdish Creative Film Centre, Manchester, UK. KCFC is dedicated to the provision and development of film and theatre skills within the refugee and asylum seeker communities; offering them a voice whereby they may record their experiences and express their cultural identities, and the necessary skill-sets to find a creative and productive place in society. KCFC is particularly concerned to aid the region’s large Kurdish community, and to help communicate the Kurdish people’s cultural history and personal stories to the larger population. It began as the World Theatre Company in 2003, and was rebranded in 2006 to reflect an increased focus on film work.

Don Askarian More and more film festivals come to honor Don Askarian with retrospectives. Serious and very good paying TV-stations like ARD, WDR, ZDF, Channel 4, Arte, but also Belgian, Greek, Swiss, Slovakian, Armenian etc. TV Channels are constant co-producers and buyers of all his films. The films of Don Askarian were sold and broadcasted about 80 times. Don Askarian, honored with a Harvard Film Archive retrospective, is considered the greatest Armenian filmmaker( but he is Russian-German-Dutch too). It turns out to be clearer what Hans-Werner Dannowski meant in 1992: "Time will pass until we recognize that Don Askarian is one of the most important filmmaker”.

Marko Batista is Ljubljana-London based mixed-media artist born in 1976 in Tito's Yugoslavia. At the end of the year 1997 he is accepted to Academy Of Fine Arts in Ljubljana under the guidance of professor Bojan Gorenec. The result of collaboration was a participation at the La Biennale Di Venezia 50th International Art Exhibition: VV2 in June 2003. Exploring moving images and digital sound environments he presented several projects at galleries, festivals and different urban places. This year he participated at 10th International Istanbul Biennial, Slowtime 2007 – Germany, Festival of digital video Izolenta 07 - Russia and many more.

Samuel Bester was initiated to art by the artist Falk Veyran in Switzerland where he spends his first years. He studied art in Nimes, and continues his researches at the school of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg where he becomes aware, with his professor Jean-François Guiton, of the importance which the video will take in his life and his artistic research. Today cutter and filmmaker, he shares his life and his work between Marseilles, Strasbourg and Germany. At the borders of different styles, his work is inspirated by documentary and poetry.

Paolo Bonfiglio was born on 1972. He woked in many ateliers and theatres. He took part to various exhibitions of drawings, paintings, videos and comics. In 2004 he carried out the art film "Fragments", based on the music by Mick Harris. He made live projections of the instant-art-movie "Putan CLUB" in collaboration with the musician François Cambuzat all over the Europe. He lives and works in the Langhe.

Dmitry Bulatov (Kaliningrad, Russia). Artist, researcher, art theorist. His research activities focus on different aspects of interdisciplinary sci-art media. His artworks were shown at more than 100 exhibitions.

Facundo Cantelmi: I learned cinema at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. I also studied music, clarinet and guitar at the Buenos Aires Music conservatory. I was involved in independent films and theatre project as producer and director. During my studies at the university I’ve participated in commercial, video clips and several shorts films. At the present time I'm developing two full-length films.

Barry Canty is an African-American writer, director, producer and actor born and raised in North Carolina. Barry’s first creative pursuit was in the area of music when as a teenager he produced hip-hop tracks for aspiring artists in his hometown of Charlotte. Barry was also once a member in a group with Grammy nominated singer Anthony Hamilton. After high school, Barry attended Wake Forest University in the prestigious Atlantic Coast Conference on a basketball scholarship where he teamed with two-time NBA MVP Tim Duncan. “L.A. Proper” is Barry’s directorial debut. Influences are Woody Allen, Robert Altman, John Sayles and Spike Lee.

Paolo Cavinato (1975) has displayed his own videos and installations in some important exhibitions in Milan (Triennial Palace, PAC, Smau and C/O Care of). Recently he has made installations for the exhibition "Home" at Atelier Asli Tunca, a special event held during the 9th Istanbul Biennial, curatore Charles Esche and Vasif Kortun. In 2006 he was invited in the exhibition Intimate Spaces in New York and displayed videos and installations at the Creativity Festival in Florence.

Philippe Chatelain born in 1971 in France, lives and works in Tokyo. P. Chatelain is mix media artist developping video, installation, painting and the digital music project "laptop orchestra".

Marina Chernikova was born in Moscow, lives in Amsterdam and Moscow. She graduated from Moscow State Academy with MFA in painting and completed the European Media Master of Arts program at the HKU ( Netherlands) specializing in Image Synthesis and Computer Animation. Presently she is developing a new series of photographical and video works based on the exploration of the dynamical visual structures of Megalopolises of various cultural traditions. Her work is present in the Contemporary Art Department of the Tretyakov Gallery, in the Moscow House of Photography and at the Moscow Museum of Contemporary Art.

Lionel Chok With several lauded theatrical, Film, video and even web productions under his belt, Lionel’s biggest project so far is the feature-length Hi-Definition movie - Dirty Laundry - which he is credited as screenwriter/associate Dubus' is a debut producer with Raintree Pictures. He is also currently producing an SG-Australia-Cambodian feature film co-production.

Salvo Cuccia his works range from film and videoart to the experimentation of new forms of documentary. He has realized over 60 works (videoart, installations, performances, documentaries, short films). Winner at Genova FF 2005 and Cinemambiente, mention of the Jury at 24 Bilan du Film Ethnographique-Musée de l'Homme Paris 2005, selected at Locarno FF 2004, RIDM Montreal, Festival dei Popoli, Filmmaker, Bombay FF, Calcutta FF, “Détour De Seta”( documentary, 2004) was introduced by Martin Scorsese at Tribeca FF and Full Frame Doc FF in occasion of his “Tribute to Vittorio De Seta”. “Oltre Selinunte” won the price Cinemavvenire at XXIV Turin Film Festival 2006.

Leo Curbelo graduated from St. John’s University in NYC with a degree in Communications. Studying film under C.K. Bardosh (”Forced March)” he shot his first short, “How To Rip Off Your Local Dominitrix.” After college, he and his brother Jorge Curbelo (”Despierta America”) produced and starred in segments for Univision’s comedy program “Lente Loco.” Leo went on to work as a graphic artist for various Madison Avenue agencies and as the Graphic Director for the La Tea Theater in lower Manhattan - run by actor Nelson Landrieu (”Random Hearts.”) While at La tea, Leo also worked behind the scenes including producing the play “Inhabitants at the End of Times” starring Mateo Gómez.

Riccardo De Cal borned in asolo in 1973, studied architecture in Venice University. from 2003 makes creative documentary films winning several prizes in various competitions.

Silvia De Gennaro (1961 – Siena – Italy) lives and works in Rome. Between 1994 and 1999 realizes a series of pictures named “Intrecci” (Intrigues), presently in Italian/foreign private collections and at the National Museum of Modern Arts of Alexandria (Egypt). Some of these paintings have been employed as stage design for Cristina Comencini’s motion picture “Matrimoni” (Weddings). Between 1999 and 2004 together with architect Alessio Scarale, she creates artistic installations exhibited at various art initiatives, some of which will be awarded at international competitions. Her present interests and research focus mainly on digital art, multimedia videos and graphics.

Alexandra Dementieva’s main interest is application of social psychology and perception in multimedia interactive installations. Her video work integrates different elements, including behavioral psychology and developing narrative through a point of view of subjective camera. Her interactive installation projects attempt to widen mind's perception possibilities by different production means: computers, video projections, use of sound bands, slides, photography, etc. By making certain historical, cultural and political allusions her exhibition sites create the frame within which the idea develops. The projects explore spectator’s depths of perceptional experience.

Diego D’Innocenzo was born in L’Aquila Italy in 30/09/1959. Graduated in 1979, he started to work in fiction and cinema in 1982, first as cameraman and then as assistant director. In 1984 he founded “L’Immagine”, the production company for which he has produced and realized about 60 documentaries, mainly broadcasted by the RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana, and other European channels. Since few years he is member of jury for the International Cinema Award “David di Donatello”. The last production of 2006, “Living in a perfect world” (70’), has been realized by Diego D’Innocenzo as a full commission for National Geographic Channel International’s series No Borders, in co-direction with Marco Leopardi.

Andrea Di Bari born in Rome on January 11th 1961. He lives in Terni. He makes his debut as a director with the short-film “Riccio”, in 2005, that wins a “Special Jury mention” at the 2nd “CortiGiano Video Festival” and the Special Prize of the Popular Jury as the “Best Short Film” at the “OrvietoCortoFest” 2nd Edition. In 2006 his second short film “L’incontro” (The encounter) was selected in many film festivals and won the “Best short film” prize in “2° Mostra nazionale del cortometraggio d’autore “Ciak Valnerina in corto” and the “best actor” prize for Simone Gandolfo’s acting at “1° Imperia Video Festival”.

Duprass (video artist/film maker - Liora Belford and sound artist - Ido Govrin) use and program several tools to produce and investigate audio-visual art in the form of live performances, cross media installations, video/sound art and studio work. Their creation of art is strongly leaning to the aesthetics of minimalism, abstraction, restrained gestures and compassion. Duprass introduces utopian art arenas where experimentalism is the core issue to the continuous human investigation of the (hyper) real world. Their works have been displayed, screened and performed in a worldwide festivals and art exhibitions.

Darine El Khatib’s greatest aspiration is to live on an island where she eats & sleeps all day while running her cozy coffee shop. Instead, she makes films to keep her sanity and her joy of living. “I find the more films I see, the more compelled I am to tell stories from a different point of entry.” In 2002, Darine attended The California Institute of the Arts, and miraculously graduated with an MFA degree in Film Directing. Right after screening her film “ Houdoud Al Zaman” at The Walt Disney Concert Hall-USA in 2006, she became part of Takhayal Entertainment-Dubai where she manages the film division. Though she is still hoping to live on an island and do absolutely nothing.

Alex Ferrari unsatisfied with conventional filmmaking decided to acquire as much knowledge about the art and craft of storytelling as he could. Coming from a post production background, this versatile director combines his passion for storytelling and his post-production experience with a unique visual style. Raised in New York, now stationed in Miami, Alex has become not only one of region's most sought after editors, but also one of its premiere commercial directors. He has also edited three feature films as well as editing, post supervising, and directing over 400 commercials. Alex has entered the world of producing feature films as well with producing his films.

Virginie Foloppe, qualified of fine art I became a researcher of visual art in a doctoral thesis at The Sorbonne University in Paris. During this studies I became a teacher of visual art and of aesthetic at the University of the New Sorbonne. I have realised forty videos visible in several festivals and exhibitions.

Anaisa Franco, 1981, Brazil. Lives and works as an artist in Brazil and England. Currently, she awarded an Alban scholarship to do a master MA at I-DAT, Institute of Digital Art and Technology at University of Plymouth, a scholarship from MECAD-ESDI to develop the project CONNECTED MEMORIES on the Proyecto Expansion Digital from October until January 2007 and her project Controlled Dream Machine was selected to be exhibited and developed in MediaLabMadrid from May until July 2007. Also, this year she founded the media center Float_lab.

Gerard Freixes has done some short fiction films as “Caso 183” or “Mi Padre” while working as video editor. “Aislado” is an attempt in a more experimental way of expression. Since its realization the film has won several Videoart festivals in Spain.

Lasse Gjertsen (born July 19th, 1984) is a Norwegian animator, musician, and videographer known on YouTube as lassegg. He is best known for his short pieces "Hyperactive" and "Amateur", which string together short clips of video to create a unique form of video akin to stop-motion animation. His "Hyperactive" video has over 10 million views.

Marie Husson born in 1979, lives and works in Paris. Graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Art (ENSBA) of Nancy in 2004. One of the founder members of Echolalie, interdisciplinary collective, in Paris. She is also an independent graphic designer and teaches the ballet dancing.

Kya is a video artist, researcher and lecturer of experimental film and video art. He has graduated from the Fine Arts Academy in Helsinki and is doing his research work in University of Art and Design, Helsinki (research unit Elomedia). In his research work which is related closely to the concept of figurality, he combines historical and philosophical questions with close studies of spesific moving image works. In his artistic practice he makes both short form videoworks and live-performances with moving image.

Lane Last is a filmmaker and artist based in Union City, Tennessee. He is an Associate Professor of Art at the University of Tennessee - Martin in the Department of Visual and Theatre Arts and the Director of the New Media Stream Project. Lane holds an MFA and a BS - Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with primary concentrations in Painting, Digital Art, Video, and New Media, though he has worked in Film Production, Performance Art, Installation, and Non-Static Forms. Lane has been exhibiting his video work in international venues and competitions for the past eighteen years.

Marco Leopardi was born in Rome on 10/5/1961. From 1996 to 2007 he has focused his experience on natural, environmental, social and anthropological documentaries he realized as author and director. His 16 mm documentary “Il Falco delle Vespe” was awarded prizes at the VIII Valle d’Aosta International Nature Film Festival as the best film of Italian production. He was awarded the 2006 Ecovision Festival of Palermo’s prize for the documentary “Beyond the barrier”. Marco Leopardi is now carrying on the direction of the documentary “Hair India” together with, Raffaele Brunetti of B&BFilm, for Arte Germany.

Jessica Leza born in the swamps outside of Houston, Jessica Leza studied music composition and classical voice at the University of North Texas, where she explored systems to integrate the visual and sonic arts. As a vocalist she has performed across the United States, France, Russia, China, and Venezuela. In 2006, she taught a course in business English at the Hunan Institute of Engineering in Hunan, China, during which time she collected the images used in subsequent photographic exhibitions throughout the United States. Her photography hangs in private collections spanning five continents, and has been published by art and literature journals and organizations such as UNICEF.

Yan Yan MAK is a graduate from The Academy for Performing Arts in Hong Kong. From 1993 onwards, while still a film student she joined the industry as continuity girl, assistant director, production manager, art director, wardrobe designer and so on. Her graduation short film Snapshots won the Distinguish Award in the IFVA, The International Short Film & Video Awards of Hong Kong in 1998. It has been screened at numerous International student film festivals.

Antonello Novellino lives between Rome and Salerno in Italy, he's 24 years old and director of independent short movies (that won international awards). He works for a regional television as TV director and he's editor ad cameraman for national television, commercials and for the satellite. Moreover he organized the exhibition of the director-photogrepher Floria Sigismondi with his sister. He participated to some workshops and courses with important and international directors and professionists as: Abbas Kiarostami, Alain Escalle, Vittorio Storaro, Giuseppe Ferrara, Age, Mario Monicelli. He's still going to college!

He directs and plays in his first shortfilm “Due bravi ragazzi – Two good fellas” who wins seven Italian International Film Festivals, (Genova Film Festival) a Kodak Award as Best Italian Short at the “Circuito Off Venice” in Venezia, and an Award as Best Actor at “La Cittadella del Corto” in Trevignano. The film “Il vecchio e la Fontana” has been selected in 7 festivals receiving 3 Prizes: A Best Film Award, a Best Director Award and a Special Prize SIAE as Best Italian Script.

Antonio Poce is been born to Ferentino (Lazio), where he lives and he works. With the musical activities it leads experiences in the graphical creation, in the photography and the videoart. Since 1994, he has been artistic director and organizer of the Europa Festival, and in 1997 he founded the studio HERMES INTERMEDIA, for the creation of intermedia projects. After the studies classics he has dedicated himself to the study of the Composition with masters Ennio Morricone, Domenico Guaccero and Salvatore Sciarrino, obtaining always optimal appreciations for the quality of just the job. Has been graduated in Letters near University “La Sapienza" of Roma.

Seppo Renvall (Born 1963 in Helsinki, Finland) graduated 1989 from the Lahti Institute of Design. He has worked with photography, installations, happenings, films and videos since 1990. His works are shown widely around the world. Seppo Renvall is a founding member and the chairman of the Helsinki Filmmakers' Co-op (founded 1989). He lives and works in Helsinki.

Emanuele Secci, born in Cagliari, Sardinia, has an eclectic professional education. His career started as a pianist. In 1994 he graduated at the “American Musical and Dramatic Academy", in New York. Since then, both as an actor and as a director, Emanuele Secci appeared in several off-off and off Broadway theatres such as La MaMa Theatre. He appeared on TV serials such as “Loving” on ABC and several films including the highly acclaimed “Uno Bianca”. In NYC, he directed numerous off-off Broadway shows. In Italy, Calvin Klein chose his voice for the CK One perfume TV and Radio commercial.

Juha Van Ingen (b. 1963) utilizes various mediums in his works ranging from objects and spaces to moving image and sound. He often deals with processual dismantlement and re-construction replacing one process with another, decoding the contents of the medium he has selected and placing it in a new interpretative framework. The random elements which evolve during the working processes play an equally important role in van Ingens works. Van Ingen lives and works in Helsinki.

Since 2004 I am in the MFA „Interface Culture“ program of the University of Art and Design, Linz, Austria. 2002 I started working in the field of photography and media art / media technology. My mediaart deals with the human-machine interaction and the investigation of cultural and social possibilities of implementing them.
